Reserved seats

After filling out your trip details, and selecting your desired route, you'll be able to choose from available reserved seating. You can choose from:

Reserved Seats

Seats throughout the bus that you can reserve to ensure you are seated next to your travel buddy or to be able to select your exact seat.  Oftentimes these seats come with the best panoramic views or maybe even a table.

General Seating

These seats are first come first served.  You can select any open seat from this section when you board the bus.

Having reserved seat envy? At this time, reserved seats can only be purchased online.

You can trade-in your general seat for a reserved seat (subject to availability) on-line and more than 3 hours prior to the departure time of the existing reservation. A trade-in fee plus a new reservation fee are charged for all reservations being traded in.

The cost of the initial reservation will be credited against the subsequent reservation. If the subsequent reservation is less expensive than the initial reservation, no payment or further credit will be made to you and all unused credit will be forfeited.

If the initial amount paid is less than the cost of the subsequent reservation you must pay the difference when completing your new reservation.

All passengers must be at the stop 15 minutes prior to departure or they risk forfeiting their ticket and/or seat.

It's all up to you to either book early or arrive early! Only seats shown on the website as reserved seats may be reserved. All other seats are on a first come first serve basis.

Don't you hate it when someone is sitting in your seat at a concert?

While the seat may be available when leaving your departure point, it may be reserved by another passenger from a city further along your trip.

Please respect these arrangements and refrain from moving to a reserved seat.

Reservations can be made for trips at least 45 days in advance of departure. Due to operational constraints, Megabus may choose to change this period.

Like us on Facebook for early notification of route opening dates.

Prices will vary by reservation date, day and time of travel, time of booking, and demand for seats. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Everyone should still arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure.

A combination of numbers and letters required for travel, the reservation number can be obtained from the confirmation page displayed after finalizing your Megabus purchase. A reservation number includes the date and time of travel.  A copy of your reservation information is also sent to the e-mail address provided at the time of booking.   Reservations are only valid on the trip(s) date, time, and destination as stated on the reservation.

This is an example of what a reservation looks like for a trip containing reserved seating.

Please note that everyone boarding a bus with reserved seating will have an R listed in their reservation number. This does not mean that a seat has been reserved for that trip. Your confirmation page and email will display your seat number. If you have any questions about your reserved seat number while at the stop, the field staff/bus driver will be able to assist you.

You don't have to look too far!

After completing your payment, the confirmation page will display your Megabus reservation numbers and your reserved seat numbers (if selected).  Please print this page as a record of your transaction.

It is your responsibility to check that the confirmation issued to you is accurate. We are only responsible for issuing the confirmation in line with your request made on this website.

Megabus will also send you an e-mail or text message using the information provided at the time of booking in case you don't have access to a printer while making your reservations.

In order to board the bus you must present your reservation number provided in the confirmation page. You are required to arrive at the pickup location 15 minutes prior to your departure time.

We aim to offer the lap of luxury on every ride, however, reserved seats are currently available on select routes.

If you trip offers seat reservations, you will be able to select a specific seat at the time of purchase.

Your reserved seats are only valid on the date, route, and time that they were originally booked for.

Much like the airline industry, all seats on Megabus are sold on a reservation basis and you must travel at your specified time and date.  Customers are required to be at their departure point at least 15 minutes before their selected trip is scheduled to depart.

This allows Megabus drivers to board customers in a timely manner avoiding any delays that may impact the departure of the vehicle.

No refunds or credits will be given in instances where customers miss the bus; however, reservations can be changed on our website up until 3 hours prior to departure.

Tagging the seat and exclaiming "dibs!" unfortunately isn't going to cut it.

After filling out your trip details, and selecting your desired route, you'll be able to choose from available reserved seating. Simply click on the seat you'd like, click "continue", and purchase your tickets.

Please note that reserved seats are first come, first served, and may not be offered on all routes.
